I was looking back on some photos of the Fellowship back in the day when it was called "Calvary Chapel Fellowship." A lot has changed since those days. The place we meet, the people who have came and went and to some degree the way we do Ministry. Times change, People change, it is a constant. The one thing I can actually say is that Calvary Chapel Los Banos is still the same in regards to its message. It always has and will always be about Jesus. I am so blessed to be a part of a Fellowship that reflects the Love of Christ no matter what.

Its easy to be duped & deceived in regards to checking your spiritual temperature in thinking things are going good. It is a foolish man who never asks the Lord as David did "Lord see if there be any wicked way in me....." It is an even bigger fool to not listen to the Nathan's that the Lord puts in our paths.

As we move into what I believe will be a new season in the life of this Fellowship we look forward to serving with all of those precious saints who have come along side us to continue to get the gospel out to this community. We don't concern ourselves with experiential phenomenon and all the fluff that has a tendency to linger and loom over small communities like ours. We are just interested in people falling in love with Jesus.

Our battle is not with flesh & blood but with the principalities of this air, so don't waste your time debating it. Seek Jesus and as you do we pray our paths cross for some great Fellowship!

How I thank God for all the men the Lord brought who are no longer with us and am even more thankful to all those who are here now. As I look at this room I think of the 4 people who started with prayer and kept it every Sunday. And now to the 13-20 people who still come on Sunday Nights it is your Prayer Warrior mentality that keeps this Fellowship going. Stay strong, be of good courage & don't falter for you WILL receive a crown one day that you can lay at His feet.

A SWEET TIME OF FELLOWSHIP

Just wanted to share a quick notice with you on how the Valentines Dinner went here in L.B (no not long beach). Everyone had an exceptional time and trying to put together a 4 course meal is the pits ha ha cause it takes a lot of coordinating. Linda did an excellent job and it could not have come together without the service of our singles. I want to thank Jon, Greg, Miranda, Katrina & Stephanie for their grateful hearts to serve the Married folks of our fellowship. Here are just a couple of pics to get an idea of the evening.

Blessing of Buffetings

It has been a long arduous 3 weeks now since I first began feeling the pains from yesteryear. Ever since my Motorcycle crash that ended my Law Enforcement career in 94' I would occasionally have my back go out about 2-3 times a year. Linda has always been able to massage it out and away but not this time. After much working on it and actually going to the hospital & the Dr (who does that with the last name Abdulla) Prayer, laying on of hands, anointing with oil, rebuking, you name it I am still not out of the woods. My right foot is asleep, back is stiff and I walk like and old man.

In spite of all of this I know this to be true! God loves me! My wife loves me! And I miss my family immensely. The work here in Los Banos has stepped up its pace. People are seeing Jesus in ways they never have before. Healing's are taking place & hearts are softening to the Gospel. I am a blessed man to see the work that God has begun here. My prayer is that I can last physically to be able to see a Spanish Ministry that hears the same word that we do. Please keep that in prayer for us would you?

And it wouldn't hurt to pray for the old man either ha ha love you all ~ Al

Thanksgiving Homeless Ministry

this band of caring warriors gave up their Thanksgiving morning to go out and feed the homeless here in Los Banos

It was interesting to hear the stories that came in. One individual commented "you mean your giving real turkey?" Jim called me to tell me how blessed he was to see all of Gods work taking form from many nights of prayer. Linda at one point in the office stood back and saw all that God was doing and couldn't help but cry.

I want to thank all of you who came out to represent Jesus to those less fortunate folks in our community. May He grant you the desires of your hearts as you spend the rest of the day with your loved ones.

We Miss You All

We have been constantly teaching the word here in Los Banos for 2 1/2 yrs now and we can tell you we are blessed beyond measure and at the same time very tired. To all those naysayers who say "you cant get tired if your doing it in the power of the Holy Spirit" I simply say you have never planted a church with just you and your wife. Linda and I have been so blessed to see the families that God has brought here to CCLB & watched His miraculous healing hand upon them. We love this church family and they love us. It has been wonderful seeing the birth of this work that some say couldn't be done!

We now are also praying for a new child to arrive. My Son and Nina are expecting a new grand child for us and yes we are excited even though Char is not she says "i don't like babies" ha ha!

Linda and I are so much in love with not only each other but all that God has allowed us to do and be a part of here in the big Metropolis of los Banos.

I do want to share with you a very special prayer request for the time being. I have recently been in a world of pain with my old injury flaring up in my back and I need help BADLY .

I know God is good, and I have all the scriptures to back them up I just need prayer to endure and I know i can count on you to help me in that amen?

Thank you all for all your support and prayers for us as we turn the corner here in L.B ticking off the enemy by putting the hands of Gods people back in His.

Calvary Los Banos's Intern

We are pleased to have Miranda Garnica join us as our first Intern here at Calvary Chapel Los Banos. Miranda is a graduate of the Calvary Chapel Bible College @ Murrietta Hot Springs. She was a resident of Selma, Ca where her parents Al & Olga live . The Garnica Family are often called upon to help us with several functions here in L.B such as the Chili Cook-off,

Womens's Retreat, Men's Steak & Study, Fall Potluck just this year alone.

Miranda has already made a great difference in assisting the ministry here with our sound, audio visual & assisted Linda with the Women's study material for "Journey through Joseph." Miranda was instrumental in implementing our "Easy Worship" which proved to be a great blessing to the body. 2011 looks to be another eventful year for us here and we are extremely thankful for the extra help that God has brought to us. May He receive all the Glory in all we are able to accomplish by his Spirit.

An Evening to Remember

When we first started out with the plan to have an event to bless the community we went straight to prayer. How we thank God for everything that He brought forth to make this event happen!

We had a "Flier Blitz" in the neighborhood and met for Pizza before hand. it was truly amazing we had 32 people including some our young kids come out and help.

The Women of Calvary Los Banos had a one day event where they watched the DVD Study of Karyn Kyle the wife of Pastor Damien Kyle from CCModesto. What an enormous event it was in dealing with Women's emotions and helping them come to a biblical understanding of
how to deal with them.

It has been a wonderful series going through the Book of James. Even though it is blunt and to the point we all need this from time to time. It has been refreshing to see the people take it and apply it to their lives. James points often to a "living faith." It is my desire that we continue to have a faith that is alive here in Los Banos. James tells us to have patience with one another and to not grumble. I have to admit I am the biggest grumbler I have ever known. The reason I see it so much in others is because it first flows out of my heart. I wish I could just pack up all my books and just leave this work for someone more qualified but the Lord simply said "Repent!"

As I spend this day studying and repenting would you please pray for me? I desire to be more like Jesus and I guess to whipping stick is out but I am not going to run.

Let God have all of our life & then we will see the Son!

What A Weekend!

Seems like we were everywhere

ON Friday Night we had a Marriage Felllowship here in L.B. Then on Sat we visited with all our fellow Brothers & Sisters in Madera for their "4th" of July Church Picnic! Great time and especially great to see all the folks we miss since coming here.

Then on Sat Evening we were visited by the Garnica Family from Selma and what a blessing it was to spend time with them our house was jammed with Good Ol Fellowship. Great Dinner blessing from Olga & the girls.

Sunday we had our service & then in the evening we had our Prayer/bbq/ Fireworks. All in all everyone had a great time and what a great joy those who attended were to us. May the Lord bless all of you who made this all happen and may He add it to your crown in heaven!

I'm Back!

It was a refreshing time to get away to the Pastors Conference this past week. I am very blessed to receive all that the Lord had planned for Linda & I during our time away.
After 2 yrs of building the foundation here @ CCLB we got a chance to go and see our Grand kids and our children. It was great to spend the quality time that we were able to, praise God.

We will begin working on the next phase of what God is doing here in Los Banos so please keep up those awesome prayers and again thanks for all you do for us.

As we have been studying through the Book of James it has been a most unusual thing to watch people look at themselves in the Mirror (of Gods Word) to see just exactly where they are at. Many find themselves running from the plans that God has for them. For many more it is producing tremendous growth. I pray that before too long some would quit running and start fighting the good fight!

No doubt you have seen a slight change to the blog in the way of its name. We have been in the process of going through the affiliation with Costa Mesa in becoming "Calvary Chapel Los Banos." We have been an outreach of Calvary Madera since our inception in May 08'. One of these days I want to write a short book on the "Adventure in Faith" that Linda and I took nearly 22 months ago in coming to L.B

So much has gone on to list here but I promise we will share it with you all. After 9 months a new baby in the Calvary movement is born. It is now time to nurture it, love it, & teach them to walk in the way of the Lord. We give all praise to the One who makes all things possible JESUS!

It is a real blessing to be going through the Book of 1Samuel on Thursday Nights. It is amazing to see the Fellowship the Folks have as we study Gods Word together.

On Sunday Mornings we have been in the Book of James. In the midst of what some people say is a "No Nonsense" book as James "tells it like it is" I am so blessed to see the changes and healing in peoples hearts from past hurts. God's Word can heal ANY wound if you let Him!

As we have become so accustomed to how important it is to have a healthy prayer life we stand amazed of God's goodness. I am not going to list all the things that God has done in and through the Folks here in Los Banos. NO, my main desire is to express how developing a heart to pray not just for things, but to actually spend time seeking the Lord has changed the hearts of His people. I have witnessed the "light bulb" illuminate over the head of people in the "ah ha" moments of their walks. I have witnessed the Lord move in the homes of those who never thought it was possible. I have watched peoples hearts heal from the carnage of "Leadership Abuse" in the church. That leads me to PRAY!

It is about prayer. The Lord honors prayer. He desires that we connect with Him ALWAYS not just when we need something in the ministry or at home. He deserves our prayers & praise for all He has done for us. If you have been hurt by a Pastor PRAY for him! If your a Pastor and have been hurt, PRAY for them! Remember you and I are the reason Jesus hung on the cross!

Women's Valentines Brunch

Los Banos had its first Women's Valentine Brunch last Saturday and what an
incredible time the women had. It was sheer joy to see all that the Lord brought
to the Women on that Day!

Of Course the topic was what else "Love"

Debbie shared a testimony and Linda taught from the Word

The Women were so thankful to gather for this event and I hear a lot of
tears were shed as they shared their portion of "Love is"

I am here at the "Willow Home" watching all the set up for tomorrows
Women's Valentine Brunch! It is amazing to see all that the women do to
put on an event. For guy's it is throw out a plate and a fork and if needed a
napkin and it all works fine. This is the reason God gave Men the help mate
that He did. They are thorough, specific, well thought out and just plain
"Girley Girl" which is why I love my wife. One of me around is enough.

I also got a chance to hear the message that will be shared and are they in for
a blessing. This is an open invitation if you feel you missed the boat and
live in Los Banos it is not too late, give the girls a call and they will set out
a place setting for you.

Calvary LB's First Missionary Helpers

20 months ago the above pic was taken of Rene & Debbie along with Linda & I as we were preparing to leave Arizona. Only the Lord would have known that 20 months after that He would call them to help with the work here in Los Banos. God has been so good to this Ministry and I want to take the time thank all of you who supported us both prayerfully & financially. It didn't take long for me to put them to work as they were sent off to the Calvary Book Store Conference last week. We will be opening up our resource table tomorrow so please pray that all goes well as we work out any kinks that come along with starting a new Ministry.

Here they are still looking good after 20 months away from us.

Prayer Request

Our Beloved Jim Serrano was involved in an accident on his way to work about 4:45 am. His veh was totaled but he is just fine. He will be sore for a while so pray that all goes well for that and that there be no problems with the insurance company giving him his new Harley. J/K
(Tina would kill him) Oscar came upon the accident and while attempting to render aid to Jim his veh was struck by one of those fine Pacheco Pass (get out of my way) drivers. He is doing fine as well.

I love the fact that our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ is no longer on the cross but this pic gives me great comfort of the "image" of what He has done for me. The fact that we can even be allowed to be "witnesses of Him" is mind blowing isn't it?

The world is in a constant state of change. People are drastically making decisions now that they never thought before were even possible (me included) Never before in the history of the United States have we seen such nonsense & darkness. Tues Nights Men's Study

We had our first Official "Men's Study" on Tues night and what a great time we had. It is nice to see a group of Men so excited about becoming the "Spiritual Leaders" of their homes. Church Life in Los Banos has taken its toll on Families and there is a fresh sense of God's word being seriously by them. It is an amazing thing to be a part of the restoration process. Often times we may not understand the pain we go through but if we allow God to take hold of it He uses it for His good. I am looking forward to the growth of the "Men's Ministry" here in L.B

First Women's Study

Calvary Los Banos held its first "Women's Study" this past Tuesday Night!
It began with an instruction on crocheting a scarf for the purpose of the ladies praying for a family in the church while they crochet the scarf to deliver to the family @ Christmas time.

The Infamous Crochet/knitting Queen Juana Diaz came to Los Banos to give the Ladies an instruction in "how to" It was great to have her come from Fresno to Fellowship with the gals

There was a lot of laughing and frustration that went on but Jesus was glorified

The Girls were also taken through the Word with an explanation of the type of study they would be going through in the upcoming weeks. All and all it was a great turn out to think that one year ago at this time there was (One woman) Linda. She is blessed to be a part of their lives

As most of you know Linda and I have felt that the Lord has led us to Los Banos for the purpose of reaching out to those who are hurting and to possible plant a Calvary Chapel. Even though it has been a task to say the least we (Lord willing) are in the final stages of completion of the "Affiliation process" with Calvary Costa Mesa. Since we began we have been in a constant change in how we have gone about this. I can honestly say this I am willing to bet Paul did not have to fill out so many papers, emails, request forms but he did have those pesky Pharisees.

I would ask for prayer for the finish of the affiliation process and that we get the seal of approval (other wise I have to tear up all my signs) ha ha just kidding Roger!

As Linda and I were so blessed to take care of both Nevaeh & Charlotte she got to "have church" with us on our last service at our home. This past Sunday after our service 11 of our folks headed out to the Seventh Day Adventist Church site to assist in their Clean up Day! It was just a blessing to see all the guys and gals doing what they have been listening to for the past month or so.
Servanthood!

God has called us to serve one another and to take care of each other.
Jesus who is our example in Mark 10:45 said:
"for the son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many."

Our New Home!

WE ARE MOVING!!!!

We will be having our last Sunday Morning Service this Sunday the 16th in our home. We are all set to begin our Sunday Mornings @ The Seventh Day Adventist Church facility on the 23rd.
We are looking forward to opening up the Ministry to many more people who have expressed an interest in being at a Bldging rather than a home (go figure). I seriously believe that one day we will all be back in the home Fellowshipping as was done in the book of Acts.

We have a lot of organizing to do and I am quite certain that is why God gave me Linda. With out her this place would not get off its feet. We would like to thank all of you who have stood by us through out this past year with financial and prayer support. We love you all and am looking forward to posting the "1st Day" @ our new home!

As a follower of Christ we are commanded to "follow Him"

The time is now here for every believer to KNOW exactly the reason why they are following Christ. Not only that but have they waivered in their walk? It is a known fact that years ago Satan entered into the church through compromise and tolerance. The church is mandated to follow the word of God no matter how much it hurts others feelings. Today's believer's are so concerned with their walks "appearance" that they have sometimes lost sight of the path they originally started on. Times are changing but God never changes. You may be wondering

"what is this boy up to?" Standing on the word of God NO MATTER WHAT! No compromise, no whining when the trials come. Just pure trusting in the One who saved us! Looking unto Jesus for all our needs. He loves you and me and will not allow us to be swept away in these coming day's. All we need to do is hang onto HIM!

I wanted to just give you all a heads up on the past, present & future here in Los Banos. We have been so excited to see the Lord work miraculously through the Folks here in L.B God has been so good to us from day one despite Beelzebub's nonsense @ every turn. On Aug 7th we celebrate our "1 Year anniversary" since we began studying the Book of Acts. I can tell you that it has been a life changer for all of us. April we began Sunday Mornings and we just completed a 4 week study that the people absolutely loved.

I will be filling you in shortly regarding the events of the title of this post. I am not at liberty to discuss it until it is finalized and confirmed. All of our lives should be in a constant change for ALL that the Lord has for us Amen?

Spiritual Formation

This week we started a course that I have been wanting to share since I got out of the S.O.M

It is an in depth study into various issues we deal with in our Christian walk. We are blessed to be able to offer it both in the Morning & Evenings here in Los Banos. I am working on a post on what I call "The Christian Facade." Often times people respond out of their feelings and not their faith. God allows trials in our lives to grow us in our faith. Of course we know that don't we?

It has been an amazing time watching the Lord work in the lives of His people and to see the people He is raising up around us. God has a distinct plan and we need to follow His plan for our lives. There will be times of pain and uncomfortableness but lets not turn away from one another for we know what the Apostle Paul calls it in 1 Cor 3.

We had a great service yesterday and we got to see God's Word put into practice by a neat couple who have come by to visit us. As I was sharing a story on the aspect of Love and God sharing His love with us I made a special note to say that "giving is important but God also will put us on the receiving end to show us some things. We had our Pot Luck BBQ and I know sometimes how it can be when you are in new surroundings so I made the invite for those who wanted to stick around please do!

This couple left and to my surprise came back and said "Well I better put into practice what I was taught today and so I am going to receive the BBQ" ha ha ha that was so cool. The Husband said "I went home and saw the bologna sandwich and the Lord spoke to me" "Go have some BBQ" We ended up having a wonderful time together and it got hot. "Wait a minute this is suppose to be Ca weather" yup the same heat spell that greeted us 1 yr ago to the day appeared again. 103' I'm not complaining cause my buddy Mike said it was really hot back in Az but that it was ok cause he was indoors.

Season of Being "Set Free!"

It is an amazing thing when you see the people of God respond to His word. We have been experiencing some really cool things in the lives of individuals here that is truly transforming. We are exhorted to "Simply teach the word simply" and of course since I have no skills to be fancy or
entertaining that is all the folks get here.

We are seeing many folks come out of the shells that held them. Shells that kept them from experiencing God's peace. Shells that limited them in their knowledge of who Christ really is and who He is to us! We are beginning to see
people extending their hands and hearts out to one another in the love of Christ.

Going through the book of Ephesians has been an eye opener for some. A fresh fragrance
to others. For me a reminder of why we do what we do. I wish all my friends back
home could experience this unusual awakening here in Los Banos as we seek to
follow Jesus. Keep praying for us please.

Jesus Saves!

It is not uncommon to receive a call asking for us to go and pray for family members in the hospital. Sometimes their hearts are broke because that family member doesn't know or live for Christ. You pray with them and above all try to share the gospel with them. It becomes even more intense when it is your own family member.

I received a call last Friday that my last remaining Brother was in the hospital and needed surgery for some serious ailment. He developed and infection in his prostrate due to his diabetes. I was not prepared for what I saw when I reached the hospital in Fresno. There lay my Brother Robert on a gurney with a gauze patch over his right eye and tubes everywhere. Thoughts of my Brother Gilbert who went home to be with the Lord 2 1/2 yrs ago raced through my mind. My heart was broken.

My Brother has heard the gospel many times to which he gave no credence to. As he lay there I said "Robert, you need some rest." Jesus said "come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest." I then went on to share all that Jesus had done for us. I then asked my brother "do want this now" He began to cry and say "I need this now."

My Brothers name is written in the Lambs Book of Life just as his Savior promised. Robert came through the surgery well but he still has a ways to go so please pray for him both for physical and spiritual needs.

We are delighted to be a part of the Men's Conference here in Los Banos on May 9th. Last August CCMadera hosted a One Day Conference to which 17 men from a local church in Los Banos attended it. The Pastor of that
church "Connections Christian Church" invited Pastor John Reyna to bring it to Los Banos. This was far before we had even begun our Thursday Night Study.

Since that time the Lord has brought about not only our Thurs night study, Sunday Night prayer, Sunday Morning Service, but also a new name for us "Calvary Chapel Fellowship." We had no idea that this would culminate so quickly nor were we planning it. When God See's a need in His people HE provides it.

Linda and I are blessed to have answered the Lord's call to come here and to be obedient to that call. The folks here in Los Banos desire so much to be taught the word in a way that Pastor Chuck has instructed us to, "Simply teach the word Simply." Hey when you are a simple person its easy ha ha. There are no gimmicks here, no Facades just real down home Fellowship with people who are hurting and desire a touch from the Father.

It was a Great Sunday!

Today we met for our 3rd Sunday Service. It is such a blast to see people gather together for the purpose of seeking what the Lord has in store for us and for Fellowship. Our study was on Jeremiah 17 :5-10 and what a cool word from the Lord. Often times we don't like to hear someone tell us that our "hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked." We know that this is the crux of our standing and how the Lord desires to mold those hearts into Vessel's of Honor.

We had a great time of Prayer on this night as well and some fantastic waiting on the Lord. I am truly grateful to be a part of a group that desires to honor God through the study of His word and through prayer

We are truly blessed to have a group of prayer warriors here in Los Banos who don't just show up but desire to see God move in a mighty way.

On a side note we should have a web page up and running very soon as our good friend from Calvary Hanford Gene Pensiero, had blessed us with significant help in laying out a page to get all you folks in the know. Geno is the Assistant Pastor there in Hanford under his Pop.

Thursday's Exortation

We will be studying Acts 14 this week and I came across a very pointed exhortation from the Apostle Paul just after he got stoned by all those religious nuts who called themselves Godly.

In V-21 it reads " And when they had preached the gospel in that city (Derbe) and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God."

This the Apostle Paul stated AFTER he had the holy snot knocked out of him. This is a strong exhortation for us not to look at the present strife we encounter with the enemy. We have the power through Christ to endure but we must be about the Lords business not ours.

This is an exciting Chapter as we will see for ourselves the example of Ministry we are to have in our City, In our work place, In our homes. To God be the glory for the good things He has done!

Today we had our second Sunday Service and I shared about what kind of church do you desire to be? We visited Revelation Chapt 2-3 and got a birds eye view of the church's report cards from the Lord. We then went to Acts Chapt 2 and saw what a real loving, real growing, real caring church looked like. Afterwards there was a short time of Fellowship to which I didn't even notice that everyone left so soon. Was it something I said? Oh no, you did it again Al!

I can honestly say that these folks here in Los Banos truly desire to apply Gods word to their lives. I didn't think too much about the fact that everyone had to leave so soon, guess I was tired. One of our Family's asked Linda and I to come by for a bite to eat and we took them up on it. As I drove up to the Villa's home it took me about 2 Min's before I noticed the whole crew across the street at a park laughing and yelling "Surprise" ha ha the rascals found out it was my birthday!

I will warn you if you have a problem with Fellowship you will not like it here @ CCF in L.B

Resurrection Sunday "The Start"

What a fantastic day we had here in Los Banos! Easter Sunday being our kick off Sunday and all proved to be right what the Lord wanted for the small farm town here. Because of the prayers of all of you faithful folks, @ least 4 families will now have a place to worship on Sunday mornings. Linda was back in the saddle with the kids as well to which one of our lil guys (who normally doesn't attend children's) told his dad "I'm coming next week dad."

It was a great time having my ol buddy Brian Still here to do worship for us and of course his wife Barbara is the sweetest in making people feel welcomed. I thought I would throw in a photo of the youngest participant of Calvary Chapel Fellowship here in Los Banos and here she is. Yup this is little Anna Patricia aka "Nina" pronounced "kneenia" she is the baby that was born 1 month after we arrived here in Los Banos.

We have a LOT of work to do here in Los Banos. It truly is a blessing to see God work in the lives of his people as we Minister to one another. We have a great group of folks here who love the Lord and truly desire to grow in His Word. Needless to say Linda and I were extremely tired but we were refreshed during our prayer time Sunday Evening.

We miss you all (and you know who you are) so enjoy the fruits of your labor for all your prayers. May the Lord bless you mightily.

THE HARVEST HAS BEGUN !

We have Officially Started

W e will be starting our first Sunday Service here in Los Banos beginning on Easter Sunday!

All preparations are being made to start our first Sunday Morning and we wanted to give a shout out to everyone who has been a part of this Ministry.

Thank all of you who have prayed and assisted us financially during these past 11 months I know the Lord will bless you immensely. It is hard to believe that no longer will the folks here have to miss church on Sunday or drive 50 miles away to reach a Calvary style Ministry.

We are currently teaching through the book of Acts on Thursday Nights. This is a verse by verse study of Gods word designed to equip Men and Women how to have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

You are also invited for a time of "Worship and Prayer" every Sunday Evening @ 5:00pm as we pray for the Community of Los Banos as well as each others needs. Everyone is welcome!
